why are we cutting the brakes?

Originally "Cut The Brakes" was my way of saying... "I just want to play fast, damn it!" Now it is more of a reminder to not hold back in any way.

My basic vision for this: Many years ago, when I was young(er), I wanted to be in a band... to play and perform for people.  Now I just want to write and share my "vision" with the world... or the 3 people that will ever visit this site. I really don't have much of a desire to be in a band or play live anymore. I just like to write and record.

What I hope is for this site is to be a new way of spreading my art.  I'm not 100% on the path yet but the hope is for lots of collaborations and daily uploads no matter how small they may be.

my musical history

Because this will be a fluid project with no clear direction, I am very open to suggestion... want to hear something?  Want to contribute?  Lets go!  Contact me below.
I'll try to make this brief.  I started playing guitar and writing music when I was 12... I joined my first band when I was ~15.  I've played in 3 bands to date... most notable the pop-punk band Antifreeze (Kung-Fu Records).  I've been lucky enough to play in most major cities of the US and Canada as well as a couple trips to the UK and Japan.  I can also claim a gold record is on my resume (although it's a stretch since its a compilation record).

What i'm playing

So most of my music is in the realm of punk or metal... I grew up on metal but my local scene was mostly punk so I grew to love that as well. For the most part, everything you hear is me... so if it's horrible I am to blame.

If you're interested, here is how I record:
My DAW is Reaper:
  • Guitars: Double mic from a Mesa Dual Rectifier through a Mesa 4x12 (1 SM57 & 1 Audix D2 blended to taste). Sometimes I will do direct into my interface (Behringer UMC404HD)
  • Drums: Almost always programmed (Addictive Drums 2). I have an acoustic kit but micing and performing sounds like a lot of work... and Honestly I'm not that good.
  • Vocals: Rode NT1-A mic.

If you're interested, this is what I used live:
  • Gibson Les Paul Custom 57' Reissue or Gibson SG through a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Rackmount Head with a Mesa 4x12 cabinet.
